Introduction KINTAMARNI IN EDUCATION
Kintamarni have had a vast experience of working with children of all ages in both mainstream and special needs schools. They offer several education packages, all of which present music in a fun and relaxed manner. Kintamarni make music accessible to all ages and abilities. The Quartet shows children the fun and enjoyment that can be experienced from listening to live music and participating in music making. Kintamarni often link education work with recitals/engagements that they have throughout the country.
In 1998 Kintamarni were accepted onto Yehudi Menuhin’s ‘Live Music Now!’ scheme. Over the last eight years they have visited hundreds of schools and education centres across the country, exciting audiences with the Quartet’s unique sound and involving thousands of children and young people in participatory workshops.

Education Concerts
Kintamarni’s interactive educational concerts are aimed at two age groups:
5 – 11 yrs
These concerts include a variety of styles of well known music and are presented with a fun and up-beat feel. The education element is aimed at the relevant key stages, relating closely to many aspects of the national curriculum. There are several opportunities for audience participation.
12 – 16 yrs
These concerts retain the fun element, but contain slightly more challenging music of a wide variety of styles with different opportunities for participation. Education Workshops
The range of workshops on offer from the Quartet is extensive. Kintamarni can provide workshops suitable for pre-school children right through to performance/composition sessions for A level students and master classes for degree level students. Workshops cover several areas of the national curriculum and can be tailored to fit in with relevant topics.
Perhaps you have a thriving saxophone department at your school? Kintamarni can spend time working on areas such as technique/performance/repertoire with these students. Kintamarni can provide one off sessions, or can run a series of workshops - often culminating in an exciting performance involving both the quartet and workshop participants. Special Needs
Through the Quartet’s extensive work on the Live Music Now! Scheme, Kintamarni has had a vast experience of working with children and adults with special needs. Music is an amazing form of communication, particularly for people with special needs. Kintamarni pitch their educational concert according to their audience, and it has been very popular with the hundreds of special needs schools and centres that they have visited. Kintamarni have devised workshops suitable for children and adults with MLD, SLD and PMLD which have proved very successful. All workshops give the opportunity for participants to have a ‘hands on’ experience of the instruments and music.
